Canon imageCLASS D340
$299.00
Released October, 2008
The Pros:Durable construction, nothing on it seems flimsy or breakable. Can use it as a photocopier on a regular basis without wearing anything out. Reasonably compact for the amount of functionality, doesn't take up much room around the office.
The Cons:Paper tray sticks out the side, odd positioning that takes up some space.
The Canon imageCLASS D340 is one of two compact, black & white copies (D320, D340) from Canon’s entry-level D300 Series. As a step up from the D320, the imageCLASS D340 incorporates a 50-sheet auto document feeder, while maintaining its predecessor’s 250-sheet cassette.

Like its peer, the printer supports B&W printing and copying up to 15ppm/cpm. More importantly, it utilizes the Canon Single Cartridge System, which combines the toner and drum into a single easy-to-replace unit, thereby reducing expenses. Plus it abides by Canon's Green Generation environmental initiative, which utilizes a wide-range of functions and technologies (auto-duplexing, PC faxing, toner saving, toner cartridge recycling, etc) to reduce waste and conserve energy.
