Brother P-Touch PT-90
$30.00
Released July, 2004
The Pros:Allows for bold, underline, italics and bordered text printing. The included instructions are generally pretty helpful and easy to understand. QWERTY keyboard is much easier to use than the commonly seen alphabetical keyboard.
The Cons:Pretty finicky with accepting batteries--needs very fresh cells. Battery life is not very good at all. Replacement cartridges are expensive (about $10) and run out quickly.
The Brother P-Touch PT-90 is an entry-level ‘Simply Stylish’ label maker / label printer released as a more affordable counterpart to the original Brother P-Touch PT-1090. It also features Deco Mode Patterns for making stylish labels that fit well on clothes and other accessories.

However, it’s limited to only 8 patterns (versus 12). Regardless, the printer holds onto a typewriter-style keyboard, an easy-view LCD display, and a large symbol library for adding pictography to labels. There are some shortcoming though, as the PT-90 produces only very small writing. Plus it tends to use up too much tape at the end. However, it’s more inexpensive and uses less batteries than its counterpart.
